Project icons, live pipelines, and a search you can share
Projects get their own icon, running pipelines stay pinned to the top, search becomes shareable — and booking a plan now starts the 30-day trial.
This update is about recognisability and overview: projects get their own icon, running pipelines stay pinned to the top of the page, search has its own page with remembered filters and a shareable link, and ticket cards show what happened last. Plus two changes worth knowing about: the table view on projects is gone, and booking a plan now starts the 30-day trial automatically.
Project icons: every project gets a face
In the project overview and the project header, every project used to look the same — you read names instead of recognising shapes. Now every project has a square icon, and you decide how much effort to put in:
- Prefix (default) — the project prefix on a colour tile. Active without you doing anything, on every existing project.
- Glyph — a symbol from a curated catalog of around 50 glyphs (rocket, code, shopping cart, chart, shield …), grouped into product, engineering, web & commerce, design, communication and analysis.
- Image — your own logo, uploaded as PNG, JPEG or WebP (max. 512 KB) and centre-cropped to 256 × 256 automatically.
How to set it
- Open Project → Settings → General
- Go to the Project icon section
- Pick a colour (12 tints from neutral through teal to rose) and a glyph — or click Upload image
Every pick is saved immediately, there is no save button. The preview at the top of the section shows exactly how the project will appear everywhere else.
Two details that help day to day:
- Back to the prefix: just click the active glyph again — the project shows its monogram once more.
- The colour applies to prefix and glyph: an uploaded image brings its own colours, so the tint no longer affects the icon.
Changing the icon needs the same permission as the rest of the project settings. SVG files are deliberately not accepted — PNG, JPEG and WebP are.
Board views: the table is gone
The view switcher at the top of a project now offers Board (Kanban) and List only. The table view has been removed — it sat right next to the list view and showed the same tickets with the same filters.
What you need to do: nothing. If table was the last view you used on a project, Spedy simply opens it in Board again. The per-project saved selection works exactly as before, just with two options instead of three.
For a tabular view across several projects, the Issues Hub is still the right place; for dates and time ranges, the Timeline.
Pipelines: "Running now" is pinned to the top
Until now the pipelines page was empty exactly when you needed it most: right after starting a run. The default filter is Needs attention, and a healthy in-flight job is by definition not part of that.
So there is a new Running now panel, pinned above the list:
- It shows running and queued runs — regardless of the active filter. A run you just triggered is visible immediately, without switching filters first.
- The first five are shown; below them sits "{n} more running" with a click through to All running.
- The duration counts up live instead of staying blank until the run finishes.
- Runs in the panel are dropped from the list below — no card renders twice.
On top of that, a freshly triggered run already counts as "running" while it is still queued. And sorting follows urgency: needs attention → active → recently finished. A still-executing job therefore outranks one that went green a second earlier.
GitHub: runs without a pull request
GitHub workflow runs are now recorded in their own right — the way GitLab pipelines already were. That means runs
- on the default branch,
- on tags,
- from schedules, and
- manually dispatched workflows
now appear in the pipelines view. Previously, only what hung off an open pull request was visible.
Note: there is no backfill. Older runs without a pull request do not appear retroactively — a repository fills up as soon as its next workflow starts.
The stage graph uses the full width
Expand a run and the stage graph now spans the full width of the card instead of squeezing in next to the action buttons. Its border and grey tint are gone; if the graph doesn't fit, it scrolls horizontally inside its own area. On a phone, a soft fade shows which side still has content.
Search: its own page, remembered filters, and project hits
Search used to be entirely ephemeral: close the palette, lose the filters. That changes.
Remembered filters. Projects, statuses, assignee as well as Blocked and Needs approval stick around — even when you close the palette or reload the page. Clear all resets them.
New status filter. On top of the existing filters you can now narrow to one or more statuses. The filter works organization-wide, so you don't have to pick a project first.
Projects as results. Type a project name or prefix and a dedicated Projects section appears above the tickets — the fastest way to open a project without scrolling the sidebar.
A search page you can send. Press Enter in the palette (or click Show all results for "…") and you land on the new /search page. There, the complete search state lives in the URL — query, projects, statuses, assignee, blocked, approval. Copy link hands exactly that search to a colleague, who sees the same list. Load more appends further results instead of paging.
Arrow keys still open a single result directly, as before.
New shortcut. The search palette now also opens with ⌘/Ctrl + S — in addition to ⌘/Ctrl + K and /. Handy, because that key is free in every board view.
Ticket cards: last activity and the full title
Two small additions to the cards on your board that you notice right away.
Last activity. Below the title there is now a subtle line showing who did something last — for example "Comment by Anna Düsing · 2 hrs ago". It covers comments, status changes, assignments, ticket creation as well as commits and pull-request activity. So you can tell where things are moving straight from the board, without opening each ticket.
Full title on hover. Long ticket titles are still truncated on the card — hover over one and a tooltip shows the full title. The tooltip only appears when the title is actually cut off, and stays out of the way otherwise.
Both apply to the board view, the list view and the Issues Hub.
Time & Budget: filter by project
The Time & Budget page always listed every project. Now there is a project filter with a search box at the top: pick a project and both the project cards and the pending budget approvals narrow down to that one project.
The selection lives in the URL as ?boardId=, so the filtered view can be linked and shared. And the time & budget chip in a project board's header now deep-links straight into that project's filtered view instead of the full list.
All projects takes you back to the complete overview. If a link points at a project you can't (or can no longer) see, you get a friendly note with a Show all projects button instead of an empty page.
MOCO: book everything onto one fixed project
Until now Spedy automatically created a separate MOCO project for every ticket. If you'd rather see all time of a Spedy project bundled onto one MOCO project, you can now do that.
In the project mapping under Settings → Integrations → MOCO, pick a fixed MOCO project in addition to the customer. Then:
- All time entries of the Spedy project — from tickets and booking items — land on that single MOCO project.
- To keep entries distinguishable, every activity description starts with the ticket reference and title, e.g.
#ACME-42 Login bug | Debugging. - The shared project's budget is no longer overwritten from individual ticket estimates.
The field is optional. Leave it empty and everything stays as before: one MOCO project per ticket.
Billing: booking starts the trial
Booking a plan used to charge the full price immediately. If your organization has never had a subscription, booking now starts the 30-day trial automatically:
- The button reads Try free for 30 days.
- Nothing is charged today. Booking only stores your payment method — with a €0.01 verification that is refunded immediately.
- The first charge happens after the 30 days. You can cancel any time until then.
The same note appears everywhere Spedy prompts you to upgrade. If your trial has already expired, you book immediately at the regular price as before.
Business customers in DE, AT and CH only
Two restrictions on the billing address that may affect existing workflows:
- The only accepted countries are Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The country picker in the form has been shortened accordingly.
- Billing is B2B. A billing address has to be a company; the private mode with just a full name is no longer accepted.
What you need to do: something only if an address you already saved differs — in that case checkout stops with a matching message. Go to Settings → Billing → Billing address, choose Company, enter the company name and set the country to DE, AT or CH. Booking then works again. Existing, running subscriptions are not affected.
In short
- Project icons: prefix, glyph (around 50 curated symbols, 12 colours) or your own image — set under Project → Settings → General → Project icon, every pick saves immediately.
- Board views: Board and List only; the table view is removed and a saved table selection falls back to Board automatically.
- Pipelines: a Running now panel above the list (filter-independent, live duration), GitHub runs now appear without a pull request, and the stage graph spans the full card width.
- Search: filters are remembered, new status filter, project hits, shareable
/searchpage with Copy link and Load more, plus the ⌘/Ctrl + S shortcut. - Ticket cards: last activity ("Comment by X · 2 hrs ago") and the full title on hover — on board, list and in the Issues Hub.
- Time & Budget: project filter with
?boardId=in the URL, deep link from the board header. - MOCO: optional fixed MOCO project per mapping, with the ticket reference in the activity description.
- Billing: booking starts the 30-day trial (nothing charged today), and billing addresses must be a company in DE, AT or CH.
