Project Folders, Help Mode, and Images in Subtasks

Projects can now be grouped into folders, a new help mode shows contextual documentation for every UI element, and subtasks support inline images. Plus: recurring todos on specific weekdays, timestamps on pull request rows, and a server-side dashboard checklist.

Six updates in this release: projects can now be grouped into folders, a new help mode shows contextual documentation right inside the app, subtasks support inline images, recurring todos can be limited to specific weekdays, pull request rows show timestamps, and the dashboard checklist is now saved server-side.

Project Folders: Group Projects on the Overview

The project overview could get cluttered when many projects exist at once. Now you can create folders and group projects inside them – for example "Key Clients", "Internal Projects", or "Archive".

How It Works

  1. Open the Project Overview
  2. Click New Folder and enter a name
  3. Drag projects into the folder via drag-and-drop – or use the Move to menu on the project card

Folders appear as collapsible sections in both the grid and list layouts. Collapsed state is remembered between sessions. Projects without a folder remain at the top of the overview.

Permissions

  • Creating folders requires the boards:create permission
  • Renaming, reordering, and deleting folders requires boards:edit
  • Deleting a folder does not delete the projects inside – they are moved back to the ungrouped section

Folders are visible organization-wide but hidden from external customer accounts.

Help Mode: Documentation Right Inside the App

Spedy now has a built-in help mode that shows you the relevant documentation for any area of the interface.

Activating It

  • Click the ? icon in the sidebar quick actions
  • Or select Help Mode from the user menu (top right)

How It Works

Once help mode is active, Spedy highlights documented areas on hover. Clicking opens a popover with a title, short description, and a direct link to the documentation page on docs.spedy.ai – automatically in your language (DE or EN). Press Esc or click the ? icon again to exit the mode.

Covered Areas

Help mode currently covers around 36 areas, including all main navigation items (Dashboard, Todos, AI Chat, Knowledge Hub, Projects, Pull Requests, Timeline), the AI assistant, and all settings sub-pages (Members, Teams, Permission Groups, Status, Ticket Types, Labels, Custom Fields, Features, Explainability, Integrations, Runners, MCP Servers, Skills, Automations, Webhooks, Billing, Audit Log).

Images in Subtask Descriptions

Creating a subtask used to offer only a plain text field for the description. Now subtasks use the same rich text editor as regular tickets. That means:

  • Insert images via drag-and-drop, copy-paste, or the upload button
  • Images are automatically uploaded as attachments and replaced with permanent URLs in the description
  • The same formatting as tickets: lists, code blocks, mentions, links

Recurring Todos on Specific Weekdays

Personal todos with recurrence could previously only repeat on a fixed interval (daily, weekly, monthly). Now you can additionally select specific weekdays.

When creating a recurring todo, a new weekday picker appears where you click the desired days – for example Monday, Wednesday, and Friday only. Spedy will then create the todo exclusively on those days.

Timestamps on Pull Request Rows

In the Code tab of a ticket, pull request rows now show a relative timestamp ("3 days ago"), just like commit rows. A tooltip reveals the exact opened and last updated dates. This makes it easy to tell at a glance how old a PR is.

Dashboard Checklist: Saved Server-Side

The getting-started checklist on the dashboard is now saved server-side instead of only in the browser. This means:

  • Your progress is preserved even when you switch browsers or clear cookies
  • Individual steps can now be manually checked off – you don't have to wait for Spedy to detect the action automatically
  • The checklist syncs across all your devices

Notifications Fully Localized

All in-app notifications are now displayed in the language of your interface. Previously, some notification types (mentions, assignments, blocks, invitations) were still in English. Now all titles and preview texts are localized – including budget alerts, explainability reminders, and runner job notifications.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to the most common questions about this topic.

What are project folders and how do I create one?
Project folders group your projects on the overview page – for example by client type or department. Create a folder via the New Folder button on the project overview and drag projects into it, or use the context menu on the project card.
How does help mode work?
Click the ? icon in the sidebar or select Help Mode from the user menu. Spedy then highlights all documented areas on hover. Clicking opens a popover with a link to the matching documentation on docs.spedy.ai – in your language.
Can I add images to subtask descriptions?
Yes. Subtasks now use the same rich text editor as regular tickets. You can insert images via drag-and-drop, copy-paste, or the upload button directly into the description. Images are automatically uploaded as attachments.
How do I create recurring todos on specific weekdays?
When creating a recurring todo, you can now select individual weekdays – for example Monday, Wednesday, and Friday only. Spedy will then create the todo only on the selected days.
Are notifications now displayed in German?
Yes. All in-app notifications – mentions, assignments, blocks, budget alerts, and more – are now fully displayed in the language of your interface.
